2/17/2012 | USA Gymnastics designates Tulsa competition as part of Olympic qualification
The US Elite Challenge in Tulsa March 30 through April 1 will be the first step for gymnasts on the road to the 2012 Olympic Games in London according to USA Gymnastics representative Ron Jacobson at a Tulsa Sports Commission press conference yesterday.


2/1/2012 | Tulsa Sports Commission to manage Tulsa Run
The Tulsa Sports Commission recently announced it will now manage the Tulsa Run. Ray Hoyt, senior vice president of VisitTulsa and the Tulsa Sports Commission will serve as race director.

“The Tulsa Sports Commission was incredibly honored when we were approached to steward this iconic race,” Hoyt said. “The Tulsa Run has a rich history spanning more than 30 years and, with TSC’s resources now committed to its development, will only continue to grow.


1/16/2012 | Tulsa Sports Commission announces Tulsa as host of 2012 U.S. Elite Challenge
More than 400 gymnasts are expected to head to Tulsa for trampoline and tumbling’s 2012 U.S. Elite Challenge competition March 30 through April 1. Held at the Tulsa Convention Center, the three-day event showcases the nation’s best in men’s and women’s trampoline, tumbling, synchronized trampoline and double mini-trampoline. The U.S. Elite Challenge is one of three events that are part of the selection process for the U.S. Olympic Team for trampoline.

Chili Bowl co-founder Emmett Hahn said at a Tulsa Sports Commission and Lucas Oil-sponsored press conference yesterday that the proper introduction in Tulsa is "two-time Chili Bowl champ."




11/29/2011 | ABA BMX Grand National competition rides into Tulsa
The American Bicycle Association returned to Tulsa over the Thanksgiving holiday last week for their Grand National competition, considered the Greatest Race on Earth in the BMX arena.

The event, which hosted over 3,000 competitors from at least 16 countries and across the United States, results in an estimated economic impact of nearly $10 million to the Tulsa region.

B.A.S.S., and the Tulsa Sports Commission announced today its selection of Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees and the Tulsa metro region as the site and host of the 2013 Bassmaster Classic, Feb. 22-24, 2013. It is the 43rd edition of sport fishing's greatest championship and the first to be hosted by the state of Oklahoma.

6/14/2011 | World Volleyball League - USA vs. Brazil
In less than two weeks, two of the world's top volleyball teams comprised of Olympic athletes will be competing live in Tulsa in matches that will be broadcast to an international audience.

The 2011 FIVB Bama World League matches featuring the No. 5 U.S. Men's National Volleyball Team and No. 1 ranked Brazil will take place June 24-25 at the Reynolds Center at The University of Tulsa.




5/18/2011 | WPBA to hold Championship in Tulsa
Event will be broadcast live on ESPN

Representatives from River Spirit Casino, the Women’s Professional Billiards Association and VisitTulsa announced today Tulsa’s selection as the site for the WPBA U. S. Open 9-Ball Championship June 15-19 at the River Spirit Event Center in Tulsa. 

This will mark the event’s first visit to Tulsa in its 35 year history. The WPBA’s U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship begins with 64 of the world’s top players competing over four days with the quarterfinals on Saturday, June 18 and the semifinals and final on Sunday, June 19 being broadcast nationally on ESPN.

(TULSA, Okla) — Mark Andrus, president and CEO of Expo Square, and Ray Hoyt, interim senior vice president of VisitTulsa, were joined by Bob O’Bannon, executive director of Breeder’s Invitational, and Tulsa County Commissioner Fred Perry at a press conference today to announce the signing of a three-year contract between Breeder’s Invitational and Expo Square.
