The American Bicycle Association returned to Tulsa over the Thanksgiving holiday last week for their Grand National competition, considered the Greatest Race on Earth in the BMX arena. The event, which hosted over 3,000 competitors from at least 16 countries and across the United States, results in an estimated economic impact of nearly $10 million to the Tulsa region.
The Tulsa Sports Commission partners with the organization to facilitate the event’s return to the Tulsa region year after year in the Quiktrip Center of Expo Square.
“It’s an invaluable partnership for us,” said John David, chief operating officer of the American Bicycle Association. “They work so hard to keep us here year in and year out. And they do a phenomenal job of assisting us to put on such a great event.”
“The expansive BMX audience reaches across the nation and the world,” said Ray Hoyt, senior vice president of VisitTulsa and the Tulsa Sports Commission. “Hosting the event helps to expose the Tulsa region to those audiences and build our reputation as a destination for the types of large-scale events that enhance our local economy.”
